Re: "Tightness"

[quote]Slightly off-topic - but moderns tend to view the michelin-man type of musculature as admirable. In fact, owing to fatty deposits and steroid-induced water retention, the beefcakes of the modern age are often not as strong in proportion with their total weight as super-fit Fred Astaire or eve...

Re: "Tightness"

To be fair, some of it has to do with body shape. Take a look at Astaire and the Duke, they are much thinner than the average man of their age is today--when men are either highly muscled or fairly beefy. It leads to a whole different silhouette.

high-end shoe repair

Hi All:

I was wondering if any one knew of a cobbler in NYC that could handle shoes with Norvegese construction. I need to have them resoled and don't want to send back to Italy, for time purposes.

Thanks!

recommendation for a summer suit bespoke tailor in NYC

Hi All: I am looking to have made several cotton summer suits. I don't want to use either of my usual tailors (Nicolosi, A&S) because it seems something of a waste to spend that much money on something I won't be wearing more than two months a year and that is sure to fade upon cleaning. Any suggest...

Funny, I once thought about doing a slideshow on another forum where people could try and name the maker of the various suits I have. I wanted to see how often Nicolosi would be mistaken for someone else given some of the comments I read about him. Unfortunately I am pretty technologically unsophist...

I know that you, and a couple of other guys on this forum, have had some issues with Mr. Nicolosi. But I will miss him if he is indeed retired, which I can not confirm because I believe he takes the month of August off. Besides thinking he is a great taillor--to me he was a huge upgrade from the Sav...

for a lot of us in NYC, we might just find out: I just saw on Vincent Nicolosi's website that he is retired.

Anyone know anything about this?

Vincent Nicolosi retired?

The maestro is making a couple of suits for me and I have not heard from him in awhile, so I went on his website and it announced that he was retiring and his business is for sale.

Anyone know anything about this?

Prince of Wales, Steve of Brooklyn (me).

Reminds me of what I joke with my office manager who used to work for the Duchess of York: she really must have pissed off some god to have her career take such a turn.

Thanks to all for the comments, most were extremely useful. A couple of comments that others might find helpful, as well. Manton: spoke with Mr. Rubinacci as to the spring/summer issue. One thing he suggested was not going with a spalla camisa, which he said was his fairly standard practice for Lond...

I am not sure why T&A gets slagged off in this and other forums. I recently purchased some shirts from them and have mostly good to say about the experience (the only bad being it took more than six months from order to receipt--but this will be explained below). The fabrics were very nice. The help...

Richard Anderson, Rubinacci--any thoughts?

I have been living in London for the past year and have been thinking about getting a suit made by someone other than my usual tailor, Vincent Nicolosi. Main reason for this, is I don't want to wait six months for a new suit. Walking around town, and specifically, up and down the row, I have kind of...
