Re: A Guard's Coat

That is a fantastic coat-looks similar to a Navy Bridge Coat but executed much more elegantly. Look forward to seeing your new shoes.

Tailors/Shirtmakers in Catania, Sicily

Work will be taking me through Catania in the next few weeks. Was wondering if anyone could recommend a tailor or a shirtmaker there? Thanks

I am attending a wedding next month, and ideally would like to wear a morning suit. However as with most modern weddings in the UK, I assume that the wedding party will be dressed in matching morning dress, whilst all others guests will be in lounge suits. Is it appropiate for me to wear a morning ...

Navy Active Duty Officer here:

Completely agree with all the advice given. As is unfortunately often the case today in the US, you will be among the very best dressed at the ceremony. Have seen a wide variety of clothes at retirements, but your selection seems perfect.

My Visit To Domain Hudson

Earlier this week I was traveling past Wilmington, DE and decided to visit Domaine Hudon, the wine-bar of our fellow LL member Cuffthis (aka Tom Hudson). Finding It I had made a point before leaving my office this week to print directions from my final appointment on Tuesday. As I reached in my brie...

1) maxnharry, my suggestion was to look to Eastern Europe, not go to Bucharest! But if you can brave the fact that the tailors in Bucharest only speak Romanian (and I mean ONLY, not French too), and only take cash (no wires or cards), then good luck! Believe this or not, I initially got the tip abo...

I have provided what I thought were accurate measurements to them. The first shirts didnt fit really well. I adjusted my measurements and then submitted to a photo-critique of the shirt on Ask Andy. The latest shirt I have fits famously (even better than a Chan shirt that I was measured in person fo...

Yes the Romanian. Might be traveling that way in the future. Even at Chan's prices, the numbers make sense to pay for the travel and have a suit made. Looking forward to seeing the photos.

David, Have to agree with your observations, particularly about Pantherella and Jantzen. I recently received a shirt from Jantzen and thought it was excellent and it arrived in 3 weeks. I wear Pantherellas (both cotton and wool) daily and they are absolutely the best socks I have ever had. Would you...

I will report shortly. I have gotten caught up in the razor hysteria and ordered a Merkur myself. I was too young to use a Gillette Safety Razor but wanted to try to see what the difference is between it and a Mach 3. I suspect the answer is alot of styptic pencil.
