Re: Good shirtmaker in UK
However, what I personally appreciate and pay for is a custom-made shirt that has the human touch. If I am to put up with limits and quirks anyway, I prefer them to be human ones rather than computer ones. To me, the difference is discernible. I am not interested ONLY in the result - but in process...

Re: Good shirtmaker in UK
Firstly I am looking for a great fit when buying a shirt the methodology of making it does not matter to me neither does unnecessary hand-work. Absolutely !!! It can be good whithout being a product of the process of bespoke shirtmaking , I agree to that ! ----- and I do not say this in a snobbish ...

Re: Tattersall country suit?
Thanks Gentlemen, and sorry for the delayed response. I am still investigating and will keep you informed if I find something suitable. I'm not looking for a tweed, but a refined worsted in a country pattern. I'm sure if it's out there I will find it. Patience is one of the key elements of Bespoke T...

Tattersall country suit?
Hi, Can anyone help me source a small scale worsted tattersall suiting for a country suit? I have been looking for one for ages. The actor Gerald Harper played the part of James Hadleigh in a t.v series.... He had one which looked as much at home in Mayfair as it did in his country estate. The patte...

Re: Donegal suit cloth
I had seen a grey db in Harrods a couple of years ago. It was by Hardy Amies RTW range. It was a very beautiful grey Donegal design but not rustic at all. I couldn't find the source of the cloth. I would settle for Worsted Alsport, but theirs is a blueish cool grey. Perhaps Marling & Evans (or Fox B...

Re: Donegal suit cloth
Hi, Did you ever go ahead with the suit...and if so, how did you find it? I am tempted with a db in the grey 14oz, but fear it will be uncomfortable on the legs. I wonder if a spot effect flannel might be a more practical consideration?

Re: First bespoke: What fabric for navy blazer?
Dear Rowly and all others giving advice on this post, It does my heart good to see that , at least on the LL, there are still some folks who understand and appreciate sturdy cloth. Steadfast, Botany, Lesser 13 and 16oz. Dougdale Town Classic. Thanks,Frank. I would also throw Pederson & Becker's Uni...

Re: First bespoke: What fabric for navy blazer?
On the Blazer debate...I would urge you to consider the next blue up from navy. This, combined with a hopsack finish, might look a bit more summery and, being less sober, can look very stylish. Good luck with whatever you decide !

Re: First bespoke: What fabric for navy blazer?
I am a big fan of Botany and Steadfast, as well as Lesser. I wonder if those with more experience can help clear up an issue for me. I have often been advised that for the best bespoke outcome, one should wear the heaviest cloth that he can comfortably cope with, given his circumstances. This would ...
