Re: Excellent ebook (free) from Gentleman's Gazette

I take serious issue with Mr. Schneider´s statement that "a Beret is certainly not a masculine accent" (in the Winter 1933 page of his eBook) http://img295.imageshack.us/img295/1378/610xbv4.jpg Try telling these Gauchos they look girly in a beret.... http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-T1Vv-FmKsHY/ToLNlgESkz...

Re: Excellent ebook (free) from Gentleman's Gazette

Dear hectorm, Thank you for the comment. I guess I should have clarified myself. Yes, some French men still wear it today. Yes, it is worn by soldiers, Olympic teams and actors. However, if you go on the street, be it in London, Milan, Paris or New York, you will hardly ever see a man in a beret, wh...

Re: Excellent ebook (free) from Gentleman's Gazette

Yes, they are good indeed, if you enjoyed the book, read them. Fortunately, I do have all issue of AA from the 1930's, so this was just a sample ;). Often, the original commentary of the pictures is short and sometimes very extensive. I tried to use primarily pictures that had not been appeared onli...

My only complaint is that it has far fewer pages than the virtual image above. I did get my money's worth, but still....MOAR!

I hope the great work will continue.
Good point, I shall take that into consideration next time.

Re: Oxxford factory visit

Dear all,

Just recently I had a chance to visit Oxxford Clothes in Chicago, which was really informative and interesting. Fellow member Frank Morganti helped me to write up that article, so feel free to stop by if you are interested in a few more pictures and background.
Thanks.

Re: Horizontal shirt stripes

Dear all,

I know it has been two years ever since this thread was active but I just posted an article about the horizontal stripe shirt, including Etutte's great pictures and a shirt from 1936. I hope you enjoy it.

Informative video indeed. Stephen also interviewed Michael Drake from Drakes not too long ago in London in a similar manner.

Re: Button Flies

I have a pair of vintage bespoke trousers (probably pre WW2 French or Belgian) where the button holes are set at a slight angle. I have not seen this before on any of my bespoke or RTW trousers and I find the flie buttons are much easier to fasten as a result. I have seen that on vintage German bes...

What about this one from Saint James? http://www.saint-james.co.uk/men-jackets.php?num=0&id=00001080 I cannot see a dressing gown there - do you have any pictures? I just saw recently, that Drakes carries Dressing Gowns as well. Other than that, we wrote an article about the Dressing Gown that migh...

Unfortunately, the Jeremy Hackett Link is not working.

However, Sleeveheadwrote something about it and I also visited Bel y Cia in order to take a look at their Teba Jacket.
