Re: New English Bespoke Shirtmaker: Wil Whiting

The shirts I have are the same center back around to front button. I know that most shirts are much lower in the front. they are scooped out at the Adam's apple. I myself do not like that look. I think it's weak. And collars should be a bit snug. There should be no wiggle room. I am right now watch...

Re: New English Bespoke Shirtmaker: Wil Whiting

A director of design at a large graphic arts firm used to be active on another online "style" forum. His Photoshop technique was quite extraordinary, and he combined this skill with a deadly, penetrating wit to skewer and deflate many a forum member. This seems an appropriate moment to share one of...

Re: Edward Green Shoes

I’m not sure when EG moved from using the wooden lasts but I’ve had 4 pairs from EG which were actually made during 2016 so presumably using the resin lasts. One pair was on the relatively new 915 last with the other 3 pairs being the on the 82 last – all E width 8.5 UK. Historically the EG ‘E’ widt...

I support this idea. Michael has collected quite a unique insight into tailoring, from commissioning "impossible" cloth to getting things made for himself and others.

Cheers, David
I'll echo those comments from David as well.

Re: Beautiful Pens

I second that! A Nakaya Long Writer is my only fountain pen at the moment. I love the feel, how understated it is and how it writes. It was adjusted for being a leftie as well. That was done by nibs.com , who impressed me with their service and knowledge. Highly recommended for those living in the ...

Re: Shoes and the indoors

I am called to face a new struggle: that of very friendly dogs jumping on my hopsack trousers; even worse than cream flannel!..... I don't know, soon I'll be travelling with a suitcase of piano books, indoors over-socks, shoe-horns and whips. That's you & the student sorted out but how about packin...

You are correct, they are still in business in Crewe. They've been owned by Tony Lutwyche for a few years now.

Re: Apparition of Nicholas Storey Spotted in Cambridge, MA

I am sad to report that Colonial Drug has departed from the Square to Watertown, and also that Storey Nicholas has apparently left the London Lounge, or at least his old account is gone. He decided to stop posting on this & similar forums some time ago but retained his membership of the LL so I alw...

Re: Chester Barrie

I wonder if what is currently being sold by Chester Barrie (the shop) is made by Cheshire Bespoke (the factory that used to be CB's "manufacturing arm" and now in separate ownership)? Same for Huntsman. While web-sites of both shops mention provenance of some things (ties made in England, shirts in...

Re: Source for Heavy Donegal Overcoatings?

I’ve got an RTW K&H Donegal overcoat & I like it. I’ve also got a length of their ‘overcoat-weight’ Donegal cloth ready for some future project. Judging from the coat, the cloth & the various samples I have to hand I’d say that the overcoat cloth used by K&H is a chunky & relatively loose weave. It’...

Good Afternoon, The videos are accessible on Vimeo . Enjoy them, breathe in the moment, and remember that nothing lasts forever. For now, join me in a standing ovation for our own, Michael Alden. Regards. Quite a few are missing though. Plus of course some new ones would be welcome. Regards Russell
