Ambrosi suggested open lap seams and since I have not had this detail in a very long time I thought it was a good suggestion. His sample pant was made with the lap seam opening outward. My pant is made with reverse pleats and I think, aesthetically, the lap seams should face outward.

Ambrosi

I recently received pants ordered form Ambrosi. The pants were made with open lap seams as requested. However, the seams are inward facing. I have never seen lap seams that did not face outward. Any comments?

Three jackets were made from Loro Piana cashmere. The other cashmere was from an English mill.

They all feel the same: great in the fall & winter and also in the spring unless it is a humid day.

About forty years ago with the arrival in New York City of many tailors from Italy, the coat length tended to be on the short side. It seems to me, that today, bespoke jackets coming out of SR, Italy or the US tend to be about the same length; neither to short or to long.

Gentlemen: New York City area LL members interested in a safari style shirt jacket should contact Carl Goldberg at CEGO, 212 620-4512. He may be able to accomodate.

He has made me many linen shirts jackets plus a winter weight wool overshirt style jacket.

Experience with JL Paris Bespoke

I used Gatto in Rome, Italy for a long time. Since my visits to Rome were getting less and less, I decided to try a bespoke maker who visits NYC. I was measured by JL Paris in March 2005, fitted in June and received the first pair of shoes Sept. Most of us are aware of the physical beauty of the RTW...

Try Singer Fabric on Delancy Street ( cross street is Eldridge).

They carry both high end as well as lower end wollens. I have never been disappointed.

tteplitzmd, Having abandoned Battistoni (custom shirts) for poor customer service, I would like to try L. Bugelli. Could you please list his address and telephone #. Prior to my trip to Italy in July, I could send him my measurements and a shirt to use as a quide in preparing a fiting shirt. Thanks.
