Thank you, rjman. The jacket takes chances, straight off. To experience the Forestiere at custom proportions would be fun. I've seen Saint Laurent haute couture up close. On some pieces it was apparent that YSL'S design had been distorted, in order to flatter the figure of his client. When worn, how...

The jacket is available at Maus & Hoffman, even sizes 40 to 50. Here is the fax number, to place orders: 954-463-8735 1-800-628-6287, 24 hours a day. I would like one, myself. But I'm five foot seven. I don't think this model would have any chance to work for a short man, unless done to couture scale.

These vintage illustrations are so lush. I find the color palette here, to be quirky. The khaki trench has nothing whatever to do with the suit, hat, shirtings and tie. It does pick up on the shoes and pipe.

Thanks for the additional information, rjman. I find this piece to be somewhat indulgent. Not sure I agree about theatricality, but perhaps that depends on who's wearing the jacket, where the jacket is being worn, and why. I think it requires height, or couture scale, in order to be successful. I th...

If you happen to enjoy a particularly satisfactory meal, say 'trela!' to your server. I would have suggested a trek to Olympia to view the statue of Hermes, but recent conflagrations as well as time constraints, might make such a trip impossible.

'Forestiere' Corduroy Jacket: Arnys of Paris

What an expressive piece. Note the bound buttonholes, asymmetric breast pocket, tab closure at the neck, and turnback cuff in contrast color/fabric. Designed by Arnys in 1947, for the architect Le Corbusier. Also available in black. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d142/mihalispb/scan0001-6.jpg

The plaid jacket's breadth through the chest, ease through the upper body and nipped in waist, is what I'm seeing from French design houses, of late. Quite chic.

Whatever I can locate. Whenever I can find it. I'm almost 52, and do very little shopping anymore. It's labor enough to wear what I own.

So my first thought on seeing Windsor’s clothes was the absolute futility of both fashion and design: the two charlatans who have successively lured and betrayed men for decades. Take Windsor’s clothes, grow them to fit your size and you will see how actual and modern they truly are. ***************...

Recently I took a trek to L'Artisan Parfums, Chicago. Although I'm not a niche fragrance lover, I encourage you to try Voleur de Roses. It is not feminine. Smells of earth, twigs, leaves, and destroyed roses. Mysterious, old world, elegant. Well made fragrance. Another one that deserves a sniff or t...
