Thank you for the heads-up. I've been a longtime audience member of voxsart but was completely unaware of milstil.

Re: Style Icons in Films - Please share some of your favorit

For me, the best of Servillo's outfits in the film is in the scene where he's doing push-ups with a wafer-thin straw hat.

Re: Style Icons in Films - Please share some of your favorit

One of my style icons (maybe not as much for clothes, but rather for charisma and, in particular, his voice) is Jeremy Irons. Style-wise, I'd recommend his early period pieces, such as the magnificent TV adaptation of Brideshead Revisited, and the French-German production of Swann in Love, and his a...

Re: Bespoke in Italy

Quite a misleading title, non? After a brief introduction that leads one to think about a trepidating account of the ups-and-downs of a beaspeaker/tailor relationship, particularly one with Neapolitan mores, the article focuses solely on the arguments regarding bespoke tailoring at large. Very broad...

Re: The 'Dark Heart'? I think not.

It might be some difference in degree, as Luca points above, but I gather some element of poetry on how these chaps strive to inject some beauty in an otherwise squalid reality, amidtst the ravages of war and poverty, that I fail to aprehend in the blunt pageantry of Pitti. Re: Apparel Arts and Esquire Images

The photo of the Duke in military dress above reminded me of a Brazilian WWII lieutenant tunic I once saw: it wouldn't fit a 12 year old boy today. I wonder how much genetics and nutrition have changed our proportions since the second half of the 20th century.

Re: Film for the Weekend

Since Nicholas departure from the LL this thread has been dormant. Isn´t there any time left on our weekends for delicious films like this one? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WFcOqyWBKYg (I couldn´t find a full version in YouTube; downloaded it from Netflix) Has NJS really left the forum? What happ...

Beautiful tale, Melcombe! Like our fellow members before, I also wish well for the gentleman in question. And here's how, in acknowledgement of our determination in carrying forth his example!

This reminds me reading somewhere that Evelyn Waugh was profoundly outraged when he spotted some men wearing black tie -- rather than white tie -- to his daughter's début party.

Re:

I think one of the best ways to integrate into a city (or a neighbourhood) is to have school-age children and get involved with the school. Of course, this is a long-time commitment as they take forever to grow up and leave home, but you can keep up the acquaintance with other parents long after th...
