Re: Enzo Caruso/California Tailors
Thanks for visiting my blog. The key issue is selecting the right tailor and this is very much tied to understanding the type of look you're seeking. You do have a very specific vision with a number of moving parts (i.e. some A&S, some London drape, some Neapolitan). Specificity is usually helpful. ...

Re: HRH The Prince of Wales + MTM suits from T&A
Someone on AA posted that Charles was back with A&S and that John H. personally confirmed this. I have no idea if that is true. Maybe I will ask Mr. H. in October, but I am afraid of getting the A&S evil eye. No worries about invoking the A&S evil eye. When I visited in early February of this year,...

Point well taken garu about the standards of dress in Japan. After all, Japan is a society in which government officials (ministers I believe) still appear in morning dress on ceremonial occasions. The Japanese also were the first to "discover" previously unknown Neapolitan, Florentine, etc tailors ...

A few comments: I am not surprised about A&S. Tom Ford and Ralph Lifschitz sell dodgy goods so they can afford to have their clothes made by them. With his sales skills, Mariano Rubinacci would be a Wall Street billionaire if he could get away from the clothes biz. I agree on A&S - I'm not surprise...

Survey results: Who will be your next tailor?
I'd like to thank everyone who filled out the bespoke survey that I posted earlier this year. One of the questions I asked was essentially - who will be your next tailor? Without further ado, here's the wish list of tailors that the survey has generated so far: Ranking / Tailor (% of Respondents) (n...

If you have a good sense of when and how you will wear your Teba jacket, the chances of it sitting unused drop considerably and you will find yourself reaching for it fairly often. Like yourself, I too live on the West Coast and its informality suits the Teba very well I find. I wear it with jeans o...

Let's face it, bespoke tailoring is for a much smaller market now than it has ever been ...However, I would suggest that, instead of feeling obliged to push tat and just preserve the terminology of 'bespoke' for an ever-decreasing circle of clients , the industry should get up on its hind legs and ...

That is a bit rich coming from Gieves & Hawkes. Number 1 is a shadow of its former self. Actually, speaking strictly from a production standpoint, one could say all extant Savile Row firms are but shadows of their former selves. Whether Huntsman or Henry Poole, the number of workers employed today ...

DFR, if you have specific suggestions or ideas for improving the survey, I would be interested in hearing them. One caveat is the subject of the survey - namely bespoke clothing. Although it may be relatively "superficial" in the scheme of things, I'm afraid it is the primary focus of my writing/res...

The results are updated on an ongoing basis but one interesting data point is the dominant age bracket. The most common is age 25-34 (about a third), which I found a little surprising. There is however probably a slight bias due to the online nature of the survey (skews toward younger demographic). ...

Gents, thank you all for the kind comments and the input. I think we're getting closer to statistically sound sample sizes and response rates. I did put some thought into the survey and I'm glad it resonated and came across as meaningful. DDMacDonald, I agree the survey doesn't do much justice to sh...

Bespoke survey
I'd like to invite the LL members to take a quick 10 minute online survey on the bespoke experience. The survey covers dress practices, style preferences & perspectives, the buying process and, of course, tailors. http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=jHDLBYht7E7dXFh_2fnqoM_2bA_3d_3d I posted the su...
