Re: Bespoke shirts: the Details

Other possible modifications. • If you will wear your shirt casually without a tie at times, the distance from the second button to the collar. Too much distance and you will look like Magnum PI when you wear with the top button unbuttoned. Too little, and it looks…off. Once you've established that ...

Re: Buttons for Dress Shirts

Does the rest of the forum agree with DavidHuh's comment that too thick is not very elegant? Because I've always coveted these buttons shown on an Anna Matuozzo shirt. http://www.styleforum.net/t/36514/folded-up-shirt-p0rn/465 (you need to scroll down to post 469 by (it looks like) MaFooFan, but I'm...

Re: Stylish slim wallets

Not to keep harping on about coins, but I'm surprised no one mentioned coin pockets. A bespoke suit inherited from my father has a coin pocket in the waistband near where braces attach and another two have them in the right front pocket. Do Londonloungers not like/commission coin pockets in suits?

Circle next to each topic?

Sorry, for posting here, but as an occasional user, after a long time looking around the board, I could not figure out how to send a private message to a moderator and I could not find a FAQ on the topic. What are the little circles next to each topic that have lines inside them and what does it mea...

Freddy Vandecasteele review?

I am stuck in what appears to be a bespoke wasteland -- San Francisco. So far, I have not been excited by my forays into bespoke via visiting tailors. So I have decided to explore my options in Los Angeles, where I have family, and where I get down to fairly frequently. I have seen a couple of menti...

Sized Bow Tie? (No adjustable clips)

Does anyone where I can get a simple black bowtie (to go with my tuxedo) in my neck size? It seems to me that it should be a simple matter for a store to stock bow ties in varying neck sizes, but I can't seem to find one. To be clear, I am looking for a bow tie that I tie myself (so, not pre-tied) a...

Scot may be right in his guess as to Sean O'Flynn. I vaguely remember the first name being Sean, and being told that the tailor was a Jerymn Street shirtmaker who made shirts for certain folks whose names I did not remember. I am familiar with Russel & Hodge, and had I been told their name, I would ...

Thank you for that additional vote of confidence! I must say that I feel much relieved, especially given the price that I am paying. My tailor now tells me that his bespoke shirt service "is controlled in-house," despite telling me in person that he outsourced to a particular shirt maker whose name ...

Thanks everyone. These comments have made me much more comfortable about the request for photographs. Costi, I take your point about a local shirtmaker, but I have so far been unable to find anyone in San Francisco. That said, I would ultimately prefer to have my shirt maker see the shirt on me, in ...

I believe that this may be the shirt maker. I have an email out to my tailor asking him to confirm the name, and I will post it as soon as he replies. My tailor is Jonathan Quearney, http://www.jonathanquearney.com/.

Another newbie crystalizing his opinion -- shirt maker

Like Sta in his post below, this is my first post, and I am also a relative newbie to bespoke tailoring. I am in the United States. While I have ordered bespoke shirts once before from an American tailor, I decided to take the plunge and order bespoke shirts from an English tailor. I chose one who t...
