Boating Jackets
I am thinking of commissioning a boating jacket and would appreciate it if any members could steer me in the direction of a cloth merchant, or bunch, that has a good selection of strident stripes

Don't know anything about the company but their Madder ties are reduced from £50 to £15 and £2 postage.

G & H offer two 'layers' of MTM. For the money you are looking to spend you are at the entry level which means that your suit will be made by Wensum Tailoring in Mauritius. If you could stump up another £500 your could go up to the next level which would be a hand-cut, hand-finished garment made by ...

I was in Kerry Ford's shop on Windmill Street and saw a number of cardboard boxes with The White Shirt Company stencilled on the side several days after TM's blog. I asked him about it and Kerry said that he is the manufacturer for them. Hm. Given the example of Russell & Hodge's work that was post...

Turnbull & Asser rtw suits
I was in the new T&A store in London the other day and saw they were retailing their rtw 2-piece suits for £1100. The label said they were made in England - anyone know where/who?

Thomas Mahon plugged the White Shirt Company on this blog - http://www.englishcut.com/archives/000242.html. £130 is too much. I would rather go bespoke at Alexander Boyd, i.e. Rayner & Sturges, at that price. My impression was that Teh White Shirt Company used R&S. Anyway, I think the premium is in...

Turnbull & Asser
I was walking down Old Broad Street today and see that Turnbull & Asser have taken a substantial unit on the site of the Old Stock Exchange, opposite Brooks Brothers. Supposedly opening in October.

Re: London Lounge Magic, LLC
Gentlemen, As I learned from experience, sometimes discussions held on the London Lounge have a very positive impact on not only our understanding of sartorial arts, but on sartorial arts themselves! An example: some time ago I posted pictures of my bespoke sports jacket ( http://thelondonlounge.ne...

One major difference is that a bespoke block would be altered by the cutter who measured and will fit you. The MTM would be altered by the factory, with instructions by the person (not necessarily a cutter) from where you purchased the suit. If it were a cutter measuring, then he would have a bette...

I still don't understand the difference between a 'bespoke' block and a MTM block; to me, they appear the same in that they take a standard house silhouette and adjust it to the individual's measurements. This note by Tom Mahon does not particularly clarify the matter either; http://www.englishcut....

I, too, ordered through Tom Mahon. The first shirt was ok (collar was perfect, body was too wide despite my asking for a snug fit) and delivery only took 4 weeks. However, this was in May 2006. Tried ordering a few more shirts though Mahon in March 2007 and have been waiting ever since! Tom admits ...

Re: Rayner and Sturges
I have heard rave reviews about RAYNER AND STURGES. How can I contact them can't find a web-site. Who would be a contact to speak about wholesale for a US shop. Any advice? The first hit googling them is their website, www.raynersturges.com . You can try to contact them through the contact informat...
