In word only. Commuist consumer products in the 60's and 70's were dismally bad, shoddy things.

Re: What is HAND MADE?

As a marketer myself, I'm not blaming my peers ;)

And co-opted/currupted. I'd say the prior begat the latter.

Re: What is HAND MADE?

The terms "hand made" and "bespoke" interchangeably have ben completely co-opted by marketing to mean something very diffreent than what true bespoke.

There's one suit manufacturer using the phrase "hand finished" when all they do is add pic-sticthing on the lapels... with a hand-operated machine.

Re: New bespoke Cleverleys

Thanks guys. YKH- I own a pair of their older semi-bespoke line and, at a fitting this summer got a gppd look at the Anthony range. Lovely shoes and I am certain, good value.

Re: Calf-suede shoes

LOVE THOSE!

There's a pair of Westons similar to those, but with patent leather.

Re: New bespoke Cleverleys

Thanks 79-

They're suede and calf. The calf is maybe not quite as rose/cordo as the pics suggest. After receiving them, I'll be using some brown cream on them to tone that down as they break in.

I;m witholding judgement on fit for a period until after they get some wear.

Thomas Mahon Radio Interview from 2005

This is an older program from 2005, interviewing Thomas Mahon talking about his then new blog and the state of business in that day. I thought it would be of high interest to folks here. http://www.radioopensource.org/a-bespoke-tailor-online/ Enjoy :) Apologies if this made the rounds a few years ago.

Brooks Brothers Hopsack cloth source

I recently picked up a BB MTM blue hopsack blazer in London. It was made for somebody who never picked it up and, with a little tweaking, shoudl fit well.

Any idea from where BB sources it's hopsack cloth?
