Adrian, while I do sympathise with you on the cost, it may be that you can start a little lower down but still get very good results. Much as I would love to have a wardrobe full of SR suits my wallet nor wife's patience will not stretch that far. I have though found a tailor in Birmingham who charg...

Frog, you are quite right, the slight problem that I have is that I have come to both the understanding and the means to enter the world of bespoke later in life than I now would have preferred, and I fear most of the clothes I now buy will outlive me! Still better to have arrived late then never to...

"Once you have had bespoke, there is no going back!" Frog in Suit How true that is Mr Frog, I was in Birmingham today and went to have a look at some decent RTW suits (by name that is) but once I started to look closely it was obvious that while they were much less in cost they were also far poorer...

Re: Thanks

>>Unfortunately, I have lost quite a bit of weight in two and a half weeks. Apparently two inches from the waist, and one inch from the chest. However, the cutter said it should pose no problem, and such changes can be addressed in the four fittings. << Interestingly various people have warned me ab...

Did you see the programme about British style on BBC2 last week, to me it was a travesty when the looser less defined fit came in. It may look good with a good suit when it is brand new on the right frame, but on most it just looked ill fitting and scruffy. The funny thing is that may people equate ...

From bad often good will come

having read the politician thread it got me thinking that there are stirrings of recognition that there is an alternative to the unremittingly scruffy in the media. To wit I (in the interests of family harmony, the alternative being to absent myself from the room) get to watch X Factor each week and...

Welcome. I only recently joined but I must say I have been made most welcome by the members. I, like you, am of fairly modest means but am determined to use what I have to make sure I dress as well as is possible. You say that you are about to bespeak some shirts, my tailor said to me that he would ...

Contrasting waistcoat

I was wondering what the members views were on this. I have a grey chalk stripe DB suit (not bespoke I will admit) but of good quality which was given to me, and that I would love to have a waistcoat for. I have tried to match the cloth but it is a near impossible task. I thought of something contra...

Sator,

thank you for those pictures, I am having a black suit made next SB with waistcoat which will have lapels.

The lower picture I particularly like but would rarely attend any occaision where it would look right, mores the pity.

Not that I would ever those peer to peer file sharing thingys but I believe you can find some of Woody Allens early stand up gigs on there. I have them on CD now and have to say I never fail to laugh however many times I hear them. The sketch about the moose and the fancy dress party is without peer.

Gentlemen. thank you all for your warm welcome, I am sure I shall enjoy my membership, though I have to say that some of you operate at a much more rarified sartorial level than myself. However I have very much taken on board the idea that it is better to have two well made well tailored bespoke sui...

True enough sir, but I think the point is a fair one, great music comes from those who simply have to express it. That does not mean that great music can only come from tortured souls (universal positives can only be partially converted as Monty Pyton once said!) but often it seems to help. Certainl...

I agree with The Duke and his view on music. However what makes the distinction between good and bad? I have long pondered on this as music has long been a passion of mine. To my mind (ears) there has to be be two basic ingredients present, talent and a part of the artist themselves. That is to say ...

To my mind the king of the one liners has to be Woody Allen: "And the lion shall lie down with the lamb. And the lamb shall not get much sleep" "I don’t want to achieve immortality through my work. I want to achieve it through not dying." "I’m astounded by people who want to ‘know’ the universe when...

Gentlemen,

thank you for your replies and I take them all on board, I fear you are right and perhaps it would be best to keep this place an oasis of calm where other such matters are parked at the door.
