Re: Blazer style choices

My go-to blazer is in the old 15oz Minnis Fresco. Flapped hacking pockets, and gold buttons but made up with a one-button front and one-button cuff which limits the ‘trophy cabinet’ effect.

Re: Kilgour leaves Savile Row

This makes me sad - a once-storied Savile Row name now punting out cheap RTW. That said, if I recall correctly they were licensing in the US market (made by Samuelsohn?) even in the 1980s... The Kilgour studio is offering a 2nd chance to grab one of our timeless SB1 and SB2 jackets for just £199 Nee...

Re: Respect for The Craftsmen...

I once had a pair of trousers made which emerged without a change pocket in the waistband. I mentioned it gently, and the tailor was very apologetic - either I could take them away then, or pick them up in another fortnight and they would resolve the issue. As others have said, it’s mostly a matter ...

Re: Taliare / Erlend Nordby - New bespoke tailor in Marylebo

Just to add a little more detail. The shirts were fitted by Erlend but still made in the usual SH factory (Cyprus? I forget). He also offered an MTM service where he did the measuring but then used an Eastern European factory to do the making. Finally, he offered handmade bespoke at a higher price l...

Re: Highest Quality Bespoke Ties

I think Vanda have been mentioned before on the thread, but let's do so again for good measure. Great service - they will make to your measurements for SGD20 the first time and SGD10 for successive ties. And the quality - well it's at least as good as anything else I own (Drakes, Marinella, Antonio ...

Re: manbags?

I've been meaning to commission something similar to this satchel from Gizzi (http://www.gizzi-leather.com/leather_satchel_style_09.html), and this seems suitably versatile, doesn't it? Just a positive note for Gizzi - I ordered a bag recently. I changed a few things and Mark did a great job, with ...

Re: First bespoke suit, London

Hello LL, first let me thank you for admitting me to the London Lounge! I believe the reason for George's shop having been "boarded up" might be found in him having been on holiday for a few weeks during the summer. I was measured for a suit at his (at the time definitely open) shop on Cleveland St...

Re: First bespoke suit, London

I've been unexpectedly busy, so haven't yet had the time! Rest assured that when I do, I'll post the pictures here. Has anyone used George for suits? http://www.georgebespoketailors.com/ reviewed here: http://www.bownsbespoke.com/george.htm I've seen perhaps half a dozen examples of his finished wo...

Sims and McDonald also have a sign in the window (a new addition) stating that they will make a bespoke suit starting from £750, and can offer interest-free payment options if you require them. Certainly the former, and potentially the latter, make it a very alluring option when compared to Row pric...

Thank you all for the comments and photos - there are one or two that really hit the spot, especially the image Angelo posted. Thus far I'd been using this as my model, but removing the turn-back cuffs and potentially breast pocket; http://img356.imageshack.us/img356/3664/untitledulster1km.jpg Havin...

Whilst not an affectation they woiuld not be appropriate for the suit David has so admirably specified. Thank you for the response. Could you help me understand why this is the case - I rather like the sound of the suit as detailed, but would add a waistcoat given the choice. Is it that this (that ...

Picture request - DB Peak lapel, Velvet collar Overcoat

I'm looking for a photo (and if possible, the correct name) of an overcoat - double breasted, peak lapel with a velvet collar, and ideally some waist suppression. Can anyone help? Thank you in advance...

Thank you all for your diverse thoughts on my query - the underlying message I take away is that imperfect posture shouldn't be allowed to go unaddressed, but nor should it be a perquisite that one achieves physical perfection before commissioning a suit. unless you are physically unwell, why are yo...
