Same thing, different terminology. What IS veal? Meat from a calf. Look at J&M's brushed veal loafers and it becomes quickly clear that it's a lower-grade calf.

Pleats serve a very functional purpose. If pleats make you happy, then by all means get pants made with pleats. Being blessed with my father's butt and thighs, I appreciate all that pleats have done for me.

Absolutely true. Not only that, but cotton absorbs a great deal of moisture, which prevents moisture underneith it from evaporating easily (and thus prevents it from cooling the skin, which of course is its purpose).

And I'll add yet another take. For me, temperature, season, and time of day have nothing to do with it. Rather, I go simply by the formality of the situation. If I've been wearing tan shoes all day and I'm going to a relaxed dinner with a couple of friends, I'll keep them on and feel great about it....

True, Mark. It should also be noted that, by the 1930's, spats were already on their way out. Perhaps it is because spats were falling out of general usage but hung on in gangster film that this appelation came about.

Hello, everybody. Toomanypleats, those coats are stunning. The peak lapels on the topcoat are gorgeous and wonderfully proportioned; the gorge and lapel widths on the suit coat are, for my taste, absolutely perfect. Bravo to you and your tailor!
