Switching over to gold buttons?

I'm thinking of switching over one of my old navy hopsack jackets to gold buttons.

Question is - how common is it to see 3 roll 2 blazers with gold buttons? Or should I stick to exclusively 2 buttons if doing this?

Here's a follow up question -

I've been hearing a lot about how people don't actually like solid navy flannels (compared to, say, charcoal). Can anyone speak to this?
