Re: Tweed jacket and trousers
Found another nice piece of cloth. Harris Tweed, probably 1940s I think. 5 meters of 29,5'' width, it should be enough for a sports coat? http://i1262.photobucket.com/albums/ii616/OldWhiteBeard/Harris%20cloth%201_zpsd5dy8jot.jpg http://i1262.photobucket.com/albums/ii616/OldWhiteBeard/Harris%20cloth%...

Re: Tweed jacket and trousers
It seems to me that David might be right. My first though was to do what you were thinking with the sport back. But then again.... The cloth is so sublet and beautiful and elegant...... might it be best served by keeping things simple ? Soft chest, soft shoulders , patch pockets ? It really is a ve...

Thank you Old Henry.old henry wrote:That's a "Barn Find"
Beautiful.
I was quite surprised to find this in a corner of a Swedish antiques shop, underneath some towels and other things.
Do you have any ideas of what I should do with it? It should be enough for a jacket at least.

Tweed jacket and trousers
Dear all, I recently stumbled across a length of cloth in an antiques shop, a heavy and dense tweed of about 2+ meters. http://i1262.photobucket.com/albums/ii616/OldWhiteBeard/Mobile%20Uploads/20160513_090053_zpsqefdlf4r.jpg I've been pondering what this cloth could be transformed into; what would b...

Re: First bespoke suit (LL Fox Flannel)
One question if I may: did you decide that your first bespoke suit was going to be a "period" garment? or was it the other way around, meaning that you wanted a "period" piece and the only way to get it was going bespoke? I would say the latter. I have a hard time finding modern suits with a fit an...

Re: First bespoke suit (LL Fox Flannel)
And it´s definitely a 3 piece affair. Worn unbuttoned and without the vest, the suit looks like it lost most of its character. BTW, if you haven´t read them so far, I think you would much enjoy the posts at the LL by Frederick Leighton. Hector, yes, this is planned as a 3 piece suit. I agree that t...

Re: First bespoke suit (LL Fox Flannel)
Friends, I took some new photos today, which is about two weeks since the suit was unpacked, so it should have "settled in" a little. I made sure the camera was set higher up, so the angle would look more normal. I tried my best in adopting a more "casual" posture and I am frankly stunned by the dif...

Re: First bespoke suit (LL Fox Flannel)
Dear all, thank you for your kind and very helpful feedback. Your words mean a lot, since you have all been a great inspiration and source of knowledge for me, through this forum, not in the least through the fantastic works of art you and your tailors have accomplished. Yes, we have had a lot of di...

Re: First bespoke suit (LL Fox Flannel)
Dear Concordia, many thanks for your friendly feedback! Yes, the jacket length is copied from a pattern dating from 1927. Here is a suit very similar to it: http://i1117.photobucket.com/albums/k588/PussinBoots2011/tumblr_nhnxe4tm81snj5yio1_500_zpswcer0svz.jpg I will see if I can manage to take a ful...

First bespoke suit (LL Fox Flannel)
I've received my first bespoke suit from a local tailor. It is also my first suit using a London Lounge cloth, and words do not describe it. When I saw the cloth it was love at first sight. The tailor and I set out to create a suit with inspiration from the late 1920s and early 1930s, feeling that t...
