I love wearing and making tweed clothing. Frankly, the heavy fabric hides any flaws!!!!!
I think it would be a waste of money to make a full shooting suit that never gets worn. Unless you can afford it and want it in your wardrobe. In that case, go for it. If not? I'd settle for the jacket

Re: Morning Suit - advice sought please
I know I'm in the trade, but I disagree. The best a man can look is in a well-cut morning suit or white tie and tails. The worst he can look is wearing a rental morning suit or white tie and tails!!

Re: The waistcoat conundrum.
My wife thinks I look far more elegant - and slimmer - when I wear a 3 piece suit. Funny, but I thought I was both those things anyway??????

Re: Changing money in use
For years I've been using a hidden pocket inside the top of my trouser waistband. A tad difficult to get at, but my cards are safe and cannot be seen.
I haven't used a wallet for 35 years. They are bulky. Paper money just slips in my side pocket

Re: Tailoring question trouser fly
This can be achieved, but there's a couple of "depends" #1. It depends if you have any extra fabric. If so, no problem. If not: #2. It depends if you do not mind the fabric on which the buttonholes will be made is from a different fabric. If you do, then this alteration cannot be done. Hope this helps

Re: Crisis on Savile Row: can British tailoring survive the impact of Covid-19?
I really hope that Savile Row can come out of this. And not just a few of the bigger names, either. In the end, it will depend on whether their cashflow can hold out. Hopefully with the change by the US to allow international travel, these artisans can start forging forward. Truthfully, it's been ea...

Can't go wrong with the Escorial blue Birdseye from Kemp & Hewitt. It's my go-to bunch.
If you live in the UK, then you'll have to find out the agent. This is a 9oz cloth. Heavier I would get from Lesser

Re: Collin Hammick, Huntsman
A lifetime ago I interviewed with Mr Hammick. Ultimately I went elsewhere to work. But every time I would see him on Savile row, he always had time to stop and ask how I was doing. A true gentleman. Also, this is a rare photograph. I seem to recall he usually only wore a silver gray tie!!! But I mig...

Re: Crisis on Savile Row: can British tailoring survive the impact of Covid-19?
IN the early days of my business I traveled extensively seeing clients in Europe, mainly Holland. I built a really big business out there to the point I could not manage it on my own. Then I got an urge to visit the US to see about building a business here, too. As this increased, the Dutch Guilder ...

Re: Whoa.. Trousers !
Any time a tailor turns a 2 dimensional piece of fabric into something that's 3 dimensional, has to be comfortable, practical, .look good and pass muster with wive's, girlfriend's etc, then you are getting your money's worth. e just "make' it look easy!!

Re: The Ultimate Outdoorsman's Coat
I've worked extensively in the shooting/hunting industry for a number of years now. This vest looks great, but form a practical point of view, you might find that the lapels would hinder the mount of the gun?? Now, I don't shoot that much and others might disagree here. It's just what I have been wa...

Re: Peak Lapels
I have a peak lapel on most of my suits, and a few casual jackets. But I tend to agree with Frank on this one. Not only about the hybrid, but. the nature of the fabric with a lose weave might come back to nip you in the rear end

Re: Sweater Vest Question
I wear these sweater vests often. Mainly with a sports jacket and trousers, but sometimes with my suit. (Apart from anything else, my wife thinks I look slimmer when I wear them). Consequently I have several in cashmere or wool. I might opt for a Shetland if I see a nice one
