Re: London lounge mohair (midnight) suit or tuxedo

A tuxedo is logical, of course for this fabric. Is there a good place to buy silk facings? I’m thinking satin but get enough for more than 2-3 tuxedos and 2-3 bow ties so that it all matches. I sourced the midnight navy satin silk for the facings on my midnight blue dinner jacket from a place in Lo...

Hi,

So I had the same debate with myself. I bought unreasonably much of this cloth, I think something like 18 m.
If you have a spare 2.5-3 meters, I'd be delighted to take it off your hands.

Re: London lounge mohair (midnight) suit or tuxedo

Okay. So I have a follow up to this. I will do it as a tuxedo (I ended up getting a standeven explorer to fill the role I wanted). Now, the question is, satin or grosgrain facings? For what it's worth, Jonathan, I have midnight blue satin facings on my midnight blue LL Mohair dinner jacket. I have ...

Is Babbo a possibility for the Windsor 2 ?
Like Concordia said, there is a lighter weight Babbo quality that would work great for this creation...
I have no interest in a Babbo version of this cloth. If we are switching to Babbo, I would withdraw my commitment.

Re: North of Italy: Milan, Turin, Genoa

Genoa is at the northern end of the Ligurian coast, itself worth getting out and exploring. I strongly recommend visiting Recco, and purchasing Focaccia di Recco alla Formaggio from a small restaurant (there are several that specialize in it). Sheer heaven. Thanks for the tip! I plan to spend a day...

Re: North of Italy: Milan, Turin, Genoa

It's been quite a few years since I was in Genoa, but it is a lovely city with a very rich history. There is a street that runs from the harbor back up a hill that is lined with grand palazzos built in the heyday of Genoa's maritime power. It is well worth booking a guided tour of these palazzos. In...

Now that I've looked at it several times, it appears to me to be tabs from the waistcoat...

I another time, it might have inspired the Order of the Loose Waistcoat Tab.
I may be displaying some ignorance here, but what waistcoats have tabs like that?

I don't care. I will continue to dress the way I want until they carry me out of here. What other people do or do not do is no concern of mine.

Re: A tweed shooting jacket

How much more expensive can they get when they’re already 1200+ I guess you might be shocked. But you get what you pay for, as I've said. It is the felt, the craft, the attention to detail, and more. If you ever get the chance to visit the Optimo factory, on Chicago's South Side, take it. It's not ...
