Re: If you had to start over again, where would you begin and which tailor would you pick?

It's that I don't care. On the one side it is very good to be independent from other people's oppinion. Definitively! It is very important for your personal happiness and this is a mindset of strength and leadership. On the other side there might be some value in being empathetic with the thoughts ...

Re: If you had to start over again, where would you begin and which tailor would you pick?

Don't you think that there is a chance, that we tend to fall into a wishful thinking trap on this matter? It is very nice to wish and believe that we are not perceived and treated differently because of our appearence, but maybe we are perceived differently. Don't forget, that the method t...

I'm not sure approachable go-to-hell trousers necessarily imply bespoke.
As with the shoes, of course. It is only my personal prefference to have an insanely minimalistic, but mostly bespoke wardrobe. Other people could be served well by RTW offerings.

Re: If you had to start over again, where would you begin and which tailor would you pick?

I would disagree on this one, and invest on several pairs of good RTW shoes instead. Thank you, David! Great post! Sure, let them be RTW shoes if you find a last that satisfies you. My point is that most people with benefit more by several pairs of higher quality shoes than by other garments like o...

Re: If you had to start over again, where would you begin and which tailor would you pick?

If I had to start over again, then I would order a dark navy suit from a cheaper neapolitan tailor - for exampe from Sartoria Granata (true bespoke, hand made, very good price) and then focus on bespoke shoes and I would maybe save my money and skip all other "dandy" garments. Explanation: -> A good...

Re: Tie-less in 1884.

Beautiful painting! But I somehow don't appreciate the depicted tie-less look even though I myself wear seldom a tie.

Re: The Unbuttoned First Sleeve Button

Thank you for sharing these observations and photos!
It is very interesting to see that this is not something from the second half of the 20th century, but has much older roots!

Re: Trousers

You can also drop the loops 5/8" below the top. This allows for a higher rise and puts the belt in the right place. This is very (now I will use the dirty word) fashionable at the moment. In the last 1-2 years a lot of people order such trousers. Here some photos from Edward Sexton. https://www.edw...

Thank you, David! Could you PM me where did you found it?

Re: Socks that last!

I have very good experience with Falke No 9 (cotton) in the summer and Falke Airport (wool, cotton and other threads) in the winter. I even wash them on high temperatures without causing any damage or shrinkage. Unfortunately socks with linen or silk content tend to die relatively fast. It is a pity...

Re: Comfort and Style

Such photo is only possible with a bespoke coat. Imagine how bad would a MTM or RTW coat with gigantic arm holes look like in the same posture.

David, which is the fabric of the trousers if this is not a secret?

Re: Spring and Summer wardrobe

Ok, I will be posting a new thread on the Art of Dressing for all of you who are interested. But let me proceed as follows. Can you imagine a violin virtuoso who spends 99 percent of his time worrying about the brand or bow of his instrument; a great painter who focuses 99 percent of his creative w...
