Re: Advice wanted: re-building a wardrobe

This is definitely the best looking suit that you showed us so far Mariano. Frank understood your body and the result is there. The picture before the last one shows the balance that is achieved and I know it’s not an easy job for a tailor. Great work.

Re: Made To Measure

I see MTM as an alternative to RTW but absolutely not bespoke. At the end MTM is quite standard and with RTW you've plenty of size options and you hem the pants, sleeves etc. Everyone will have its own answer to this question because each of us makes his own experience. I tried a good number of tail...

Re: Bespoke shirtmaker

I have bespoke experience with different levels; - one man shop where same person make the entire garment himself - in-house production where different individuals work under the same roof, generally from same family - outsourced production (like sewing etc.) with good quality control over the final...

Re: Rooms

Michael mentions that it should be consumed young. My friend the wine merchant tells me this Frappato ages most gracefully. There is a moment when the wine is changing character which is less pleasant. Perhaps wait 2, 3 years and check again (this applies to many wines with ageing potential). Inspi...

Re: Springtime in Italy

End of March (or beginning of April) is still cold in all Italy. Basically weather start to change but you still have cold of winter so you need to dress for cold weather. No need to carry a heavy overcoat but you may want to take a light coat or as David suggested some knitwear with suits and jacke...

Re: Biodynamic

Well first of all keep in mind that if a wine is done really without addition of any sulfite than it must be stored below 14-15C all the time and this kind of wine has no ageing potential simply this wine shouldn't get into touch with air otherwise it get oxydated. If you drink a wine without sulfit...

Re: Rus in urbe.

Personally i would go for straight flap pockets as well. I don't like hacking style, it disturb my eyes and erase a little bit fluidity of jacket. Almost all Harris Tweed i've seen have a kind of rustic country look but it's strange that this one has city look. I do like it at least from picture. I ...

Re: Should bespoke always achieve a perfect fit?

Slh, Your question is legitimate...It really depends imperfections. For me a good suit is balanced on you and fluid. You may have some imperfections, especially on the back where you don't have canvas structure. Especially depending your body type the tailor may leave some extra fabric underarms etc...

Re: Great clothes made from Cloth Club fabrics

I am considering having the Perfect Spring Coat cloth made up as follows: - quarter-lined - little or no shoulder padding - patch pockets The desired result is a piece of clothing that looks like a relaxed jacket but wears more like a cardigan, yet without clinging too much to the shirt. Fellow-mem...

Some like patch pockets. Others, pocket patches. :) http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/07/05/article-2356522-1AA744A5000005DC-142_306x505.jpg hectorm, I didn't know this pocket style but it's quite original as well Maybe i would put patch a little bit higher so it's really in the center of the poc...

Re: Patch pockets

Dear DF, if you would be in Bern, you would see me walking around with patch pockets on tweed coats here and then :D I like patch pockets on the more quiet designs, like herringbones, diamond twill, donegal and houndstooth. Cheers, David David, I am in Lausanne so next time in Bern if i notice a pa...

Re: "Frames"

uppercase, I think it really depends your bespoke collection. Let's assume that you started bespoking young and your wardrobe is already full of staples and less staples than i think a pink jacket is not a bad idea! Besides that something that i realized few people in bespoke is going out of classic...

Re: Bespoke shirtmaker

Note also that it's not maker who's doing sewing which is the labor intensive part. You have tons of people available (in particular women for shirts) in Naples for this kind of task. In this case, it´s not a true bespoke shirt in the sense of the OP and you are right, the price of the shirt should...
