Re: In search of a boutonnière
Depending on how much you wish to spend, you might do well to check out Lanvin. They have a few RTW boutonnieres online (Mr Porter?) and I believe their Savile Row branch stocks an array of them. Thank You for your info. I saw them at Mr. Porter and they look very nice except they are in dark navy ...

Re: In search of a boutonnière
Well, you probably have something bigger in mind, and though not quite a boutonnière (more like a lapel pin), I guess this would be an opportunity http://vandafineclothing.com/store/lapel-pins/24-two-lapel-pins.html Cheers, Soren Thank you Soren but as you mentioned it is too small, however tastefu...

Re: Double Breasted Overcoat with Double Breasted Suit or Ja
Esquire or GQ recently said that you don't wear a DB overcoat with a DB suit or jacket as it is overkill and should not be done (implying that doing so is a faux pas). Is this true? Or, are Esquire and GQ full of it? Dear Audi S5 Costi above has pointed out a few aspects accurately. It is indeed be...

Sir, As a foundation for supplemental reading, what do you recommend as primary reading? Regards, Alan[/quote] Dear Alan, You need not refer to em as Sir :) even though I appreciate the proper formality. Regarding primary reading, Alden has posted many great resources over the course of years on thi...

unfortunately, they do not anymore. I recently inquired and all of that remains is in microfilm. However, NY public library still has hardcopy issues, at least for the time being.arkirshner wrote:I believe the Fashion Institute in New York has them all.

Re: Vol. I No. IV (July 05') Summer / Resort guide AA / Es
I'm a new member and I've been reading up on all the posts under "Features and Articles" on my iPad. The Esky series are particulary entertaining, seeing also where Will has gotten many of his inspirations for his blog (which I also highly admire). Now that I've revived this old thread I just want ...

Re: A&S critic
But beyond fit and style, he really criticised their craftsmanship. Maybe this is 1987, but he don't seem to believe that anything has changed from his comments. If that is true, isn't it a bit strange that A&S has the reputation that it has ? Not really. A&S customers, while being much more knowle...

Uppercase was persuasive and I made a visit to Caraceni as soon as I was settled in. Dopey please share your detailed throughts when you have time. There is very little to no reports on Caraceni apart from what uppercase did. Are you getting the pants from them also? I assume you do not speak Itali...

Re: Black Blazer/ Odd Jacket
What defines a stroller? Lol! I thought we had discussed that enough so everyone knew. Anyways, it is an American term for a black/oxford gray jacket used as a semi-formal day wear garment, a step below formal day wear (cutaway morning coat.) It is the same relation what dinner jacket is to tailcoa...

Re: Morning Coat Colour
To OP I would advise against using midnight blue because as pointed out earlier in this thread, you can easily tell its a shade of blue not black. In so far as Oxford gray is concerned, as a matter of fact I was looking through various fabric books today and could not find a single trure oxford gray...

Dear Etutee, You have done so much already that it would be a crime to let you further butcher your copies of AA that have already gone through scanning. Costi Esky is not a problem at all. It is AA that is a pain the back. Fortunately all of these were Esky illustrations so I just need to figure o...

hello gents I will try to repost the pictures in next week or so. I need to get the images back to scanner which I can only do next week or so.
