Re: Music of the Day
Gentlemen, I apologize if I posted this link before - I haven't posted much in the forum recently - but this little gem by L'Arpeggiata and Philipe Jaroussky must remain one of my eternal favourites, and it should very much resonate with a guiding theme of The London Lounge, to combine deep knowledg...

Re: Bespoke Shirts and Monograms
If you, dear Clemens, frequent a decent shirtmaker, which none of us would doubt for a second, they will offer to have your family's coat of arms embroidered with two or three selected initials underneath. Select the ones most suitable to distinguish yourself from your other family members who may u...

ridicule them by relating them to the “obligatory oiled chest hair”, as displayed by their inventor and in their marketing campaigns, rather than discussing their cut, cloth, silhouette etc without prejudice should be below the standards of the members of this lounge. dE You can be so creative when...

Re: English suts give backache - according to Tom Ford
Gentlemen I have taken some time to respond to this thread as I am an great admirer of the London Lounge, considering it by far the most knowledgeable but also the most pleasant internet forum dealing with the topic of men’s style, classic or not. Yet, at the same time, I cannot but agree with Zeitg...

Re: Insider's Paris
On departure, remember to say merci and au revoir . If you are just visiting for a few days, then you probably won't need to know any other French word. Shredder it is interesting that you conider merci the most relevant French word to know. My observation is that an almost profuse use of thank you...

Re: Extra Trousers
Another advantage of having two trousers made with a suit is that you can vary styles according to your mood - have one with, one without turn-ups, have one cut for wearing with a belt, one with a fishtail back for wearing with braces, etc.

(If you’re a retailer, you make a cool business decision, whether your own name or the name of the manufacturer carries more cachet. It must be a very bold retailer who sells ‘Kiton’ under his own label.) Actually,Bardelli in Milan do - or at least did - this. I have two jackets with only the Barde...

Re: Getting Triple Check Made. Ideas?
@Des Esseintes: Why do you think a waistcoat falls by the wayside in the case of a "a Huntsman-esque one button cut?" I would think the buttoning point would be the same as on a 2-button or 3 roll 2 coat so that shouldn't be the issue. Or is it a matter of style? Dopey I don't think there are any h...

Re: Omega Restoration
I have had it repaired three times now (last two in London at Watches of Switzerland) and still it quickly resorted to gaining an absurd amount of time. Watches of Switzerland is probably the most annoyingly over-priced shop in London, and competition is pretty tough... My wife had the battery on h...

Three piece, SB, notch lapel, true three button front, flapped pockets (could be slanted.) Waistcoat plain, no lapel. High rise, richly pleated trousers, 5 cm turn ups. Exactly my thoughts, though I would say it does not necessarily have to be a true three button front but would also work in other ...

Re: The Raglan
I know little about about German fashion though I have always liked the Tyrolean lodens that are normally made as ghille collared Raglans. A few trips to Vienna or Salzburg will normally win you over to the style. I agree that most functional loden coats, for shooting, stalking and other country pu...

This was a botched attempt to make an Ulster coat with a Raglan sleeve.

Re: The Raglan
Gruto would not a Raglan coat be closer to the less formal end of coats, anyway? I guess the fact that no proper formal dress ever features Raglan sleeves, not even Thom Browne's so far, would make me think this kind of sleeve treatment should be considered an informal detail. Hence, visible front b...
