An exquisite coat, indeed. I especially like the contrast of the lighter tweed with the charcoal trouser. Bravo.

I especially like these cutaway quarters on odd jackets: as they are worn with different colour trousers, the trousers front shows up to the waist, elongating the leg.
The drape looks excellent.
Do I see a handpick a few mms from the edge on the lapels and as far as the canvassing should reach on the bottom of the jacket?

What you are seeing is a "swelled edge" that I use solely on tweed coats.

Your observation regarding perceived leg length and open front quarters is correct. In this instance, the torso is long and legs short for the height of the wearer. The open quarters make up for this particularity.

An older piece of Reed and Taylor 12 oz +/- cloth that was recently made for me.

Did I come to the wrong party?

Dear DDM:

Great jacket, it drapes very well. What kind of back did you put on it, side vents, no vents?

BTW: You might want to have that horn looked at.

Best Regards,

Cufflink,

What horn?

I never get to see my back so I grabbed a picture of that as well. A pictures worth more words than I can productivbely type...

To answer your question though, side vents, always side vents for me. I like the access to my pockets.

Two handsome examples of fall tweediness. Alden - have you foresworn your beard?

DDM

Thanks for posting your very well done jacket. I was hoping to inspire some postings by members.

Any others?

Here is the suit I am wearing today. It's not new this fall, but it is a fall suit!

I know you like your new Shattuck suit, but I think Raphael really has the DB nailed. At least he does to my taste.

I am mostly thinking about the overall shape. I can see how you might like the lapels and shoulders from Frank a bit more (though I am happy with the way Raphael has done them).

Keep 'em coming, gentlemen! Dopey, I agree; the Shattuck DB is smashing, but the overall shaping of this suit is really elegant; shaped without being exaggerated; discreetly so. Fabric is....?

I do prefer Raph's DB to his SB, and I really can't complain (much) about the above suit. Frank gets my front-back balance a little better. Compare this side view with that of the Shattuck suit:

Stylistically, I prefer less shoulder (no way you can convice Raph to do that) and a higher collar (ditto). I also like a wider wrap and wider lapels. Note, too, that the Shattuck sleeve is narrower. This is a hallmark of his, something he absolutely believes makes for a more elegant suit.

Fabric is H&S 11 ounce "Victory" flannel. It's not the best flannel out there, but I much prefer the color and stripe to the corresponding number in the Minnis book,
